FedEx mass shooting victims receive funding from community fund

Indianapolis-Six weeks have passed since a gunman killed eight people at the FedEx ground facility in Indianapolis.
During that time, the community united to support victims, survivors and their families, and raised more than $1.5 million.
“When such incidents happen, people feel helpless and want to help,” said Jeffrey Dion, executive director of the National Sympathy Foundation.
The National Sympathy Foundation collects and distributes charitable donations after large-scale violent crimes have occurred.
This includes the victim’s family, the injured and the people present. The fund will remain open for several weeks.
Then, the local guiding community will hold a meeting in the public city hall to formulate rules for managing the fund.
Aasees Kaur, Legal Client and Community Services Manager of the Sikh Union, said: “It’s very touching to know that people are still paying attention to the needs of the most affected families.”
“We know that their world has not changed, and their grief will be long and difficult,” Kaul said.
“Get as much support as possible from the larger community, and the better we will be,” Kaul said.
